ex-post-postcard from admont and the gesäuse

I’m writing to you while sipping a cup of natural Yellow Pacamara from Nicaragua roasted by Neues Schwarz. This cuppe was brewed in my beloved Orea, newest addition to my family of drippers. Gotta say, Orea knew what they were doing when they added their signature natural pour-over recipe to their booklet. And I’m really excited to have both my physical and online coffee spaces finally set up and ready to go.

A tasty Natural from Neues Schwarz.

unpaid obviously i just like the coffee, duh

works perfectly with Orea’s signature recipe for naturals: The Pulse - 12g coffee to 200g water.

Hi, it’s been a while. I’ve found some peace and calm while exhilaratedly rushing up and down short and sturdy mountains in the Gseis. I had to get through a lot of journaling and alcohol-free beer drinking to get some of the weight off my shoulders. I’ve accumulated so much dust this spring, really nothing big. It started to weigh me down just because of the sheer sum of tiny little thoughts and doubts. I felt more free to think my thoughts, liberated by the relative absence of humans in the forests in this little gem of a national park.

The Gösser filled my glass, joy filled my little heart. I spotted a bunch of cows, several eagles and a group of partridges. After a very steep ascent on my second tour, I reached lush meadows buzzing and blossoming. Haven’t felt this close to paradise in a very long time. Thriving surroundings like this just allow you to be happy and satisfied with who you are, which in turn is necessary to thrive yourself.

I felt small. Standing on top of a peak I couldn’t even picture myself reaching. Sitting for more than an hour in this Rococo chest of written treasures. What had Ennstal looked like back when they had built this academic cathedral? It’s not like you haven’t seen anything like Admont growing up in Vienna. But this is not an imperial court, this is a convent founded almost a millennium ago situated next to a mountain range that only was turned into a national park because nobody had tried to plaster it with heavy infrastructure or extensive farming anyway.

The Enns emerges calm from the Gseis, put into place by a gross amount of dams. Now, I’ll always look forward to those little grounding getaways that help you turn away from using force to stay calm. Finding your place and setting your own terms. Exhausting yet rewarding.

Btw the only coffee I had was some single filter bags that I brewed with 85 degree samovar water and one weak af Dallmayer “espresso”.

Bussi, Bussi!
